Mecanoo - National heritage museum, Arnhem 1998.
The Daeyang Gallery and House is a new underground gallery and private home in Seoul, South Korea, concealed by a pool of water at ground level. Clad in copper, the building has three pavilions that rise above the water to give access to both the private gallery and the owner’s home.
The architect - Steven Holl - says the basic geometry of the building is inspired by a 1967 sketch for a musical score by the Hungarian-Canadian composer Istvan Anhalt and this can be observed through the careful arrangement of the 55 skylights on the roof on the three blocks.
